May 07, 2019#0183;#32;Back story in 2016 Oregon banned motorized mining on many public lands, basically taking away the main gold reclamation methods that have been in use since 1872. This is similar to the California ban, though until recently Oregon has been much more promining.

I am a recently new member to GPAA. I have prospected in Washington state and go by the gold and fish pamphlet which lays out all of the regulations pretty well and are required to have the pamphlet on your person which is your permit/ HPA. For Oregon I am having trouble finding rules and regulations on prospecting and mining.
Due to these mining restrictions on the Rogue River, much of the gold placer mining in southern Oregon is done on the many goldbearing rivers and streams that flow into the Rogue. The two largest tributaries are the Applegate River and the Illinois River. Both of these are very rich river systems that have fewer restrictions for miners.
